A brick doesn’t necessarily have to be rectangular. This was demonstrated by students of the Academie van Bouwkunst (Amsterdam Academy of Architecture) during their presentation at FabCity, this Friday. They had been working on creating new kinds of bricks, challenging existing criteria and coming up with artful and innovative ideas. The practical execution was not alway an instant success, as some of the students had to admit. Things went wrong in the actual production process of the bricks, which called for even more creative thinking. The results were discussed by the students’ teachers who were overall pleasantly surprised.
